Élie Berthet

Élie Berthet (Limoges, 8 June 1815 - Paris, 3 February 1891) was a French novelist.

A most prolific writer, Berthet authored more than 100 novels about Paris, criminal affairs, the prehistoric world. His Les Houilleurs de Polignies is reported to have been one of the inspirations for Zola's Germinal.[1]
